Changeover
In changing from one operating
system to another there are always going to be teething troubles.
Things that you took for granted are going to work
differently.
On both the operating system and applications, menus can be
different or not there at all. This is true of changing
within
suppliers (XP to VIsta) as well as from Windows to Linux.
Some
of the most popular applications that are run on a PC today are
pre-installed on most Linux distributions, others are
available to
install afterwards and are listed here:

Linux Vs Windows Vista
If
you don't like the look of the Gnome desktop which is the default on
Ubuntu, you can change the look with themes. A
complete alternative desktop, KDE can be found in the Synaptic
package manager. This
has a completely different look and feel. Other
offerings can also found without too much digging on Google or other
search engines. Once again Ubuntu Linux offers you choices.
